Steps
1. In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
2. Gradually add 2 tbsp sugar and vanilla extract, continue beating until stiff peaks form.
3. In a saucepan, heat milk until almost boiling.
4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and 1 tbsp sugar, then add a bit of hot milk to create a slurry.
5. Pour the slurry into the hot milk, whisking constantly until thickened.
6. To serve, spoon dollops of meringue onto the milk mixture.
