Steps
1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
3. Pour in the white wine and add the red pepper flakes, if using. Bring to a simmer.
4. Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened up.
5. Discard any mussels that do not open. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
